Last week, an SRO at Milton Somers Middle School in La Plata was tipped off about comments a student made threatening violence toward the building.

Investigators say that a home visit was conducted at the student's home, and officers were told that the student does not have access to weapons.

Despite the threats and subsequent evaluation, officials said that the student cannot be charged under Maryland law due to their age, though they will face disciplinary action in accordance with the Charles County Public Schools Code of Conduct and was referred to the Department of Juvenile Services.
